Abstract (EN)
Literature is a good narrator of society. It is possible to find many elements specific to society in literary works. A literary work contains the social structure of the period in which it was written. This relationship between literature and society undoubtedly requires sociology to examine literary works. Literary works are an observation area for sociology. Literature is divided into genres. Among these genres, the novel is the area where the social element is most clearly observed. The phenomenon of crime, which keeps pace with the social changes seen in every society throughout history, appears as a theme in novels. Crime has found its place in literary works and has led to the emergence of a genre where only crime is at the center. Detective novels are literary genres that focus on the phenomenon of crime and view it as a mystery that needs to be solved. Detective novels date back to a recent past. It is possible to see the codes of the social structure when this genre, which is perceived as a riddle tool that can be read quickly and has no depth, is examined. Detective novelist Ahmet Ümit reflects the society, the troubles it experiences and the changes that the society has undergone through his murder fiction in his works. It is important to consider these works, which are of interest to both literature and sociology, from a sociological perspective.
