Abstract (EN)
Virtues have been studied for centuries in religious and philosophical terms. However, psychology has just recently participated in this study. With the positive psychology movement, some virtues were started to be investigated intensively. However, humility has been pondered for centuries, it is a new topic for empirical research. Despite its reputable and long history, humanity began to apply the scientific approach in the study of this virtue at the beginning of the 21st century. In this study, which focuses on the virtue of humility, the relationship and interaction between humility and religiosity, psychological well-being and satisfaction with life are investigated. In the scope of the study, it is also examined whether there is a significant relationship between humility levels and demographics of individuals. In the first stage of the study, which consists of two stages, the document analysis defined within the scope of qualitative research methods was conducted. The research develops within the framework of positive psychology approach. In this scope, in the first stage of the research, shifting of the focus of psychology from weakness to strength has been examined with positive psychology approach. In this context, in order to better understand the practice and science of humility, the historical course, conceptualization, measurement and acquiring and development of humility are investigated. Positive psychology has opened the doors of psychology to the constructive and positive potentials of religions. In this context, the position and value of humility in Islam are important. In this research, the emergence and development of humility within the concept of monotheism (tawhid) in Islamic thought is discussed. In the second stage of the research, survey method is used. Statistical analysis of the data collected from the field through the questionnaire was performed by SPSS statistical program. The findings of the research show that there is a significant and positive relationship between humility, psychological well-being, satisfaction with life and religiosity. In addition, humility is a significant predictor of psychological well-being, satisfaction with life, and religiosity. It was also found that women, those who spend most of their lives in big cities, those who has a middle income, those who study in divinity faculty and those who evaluate themselves as healthy have a higher level of humility. However, it was found that the level of humility decreased significantly as the age and the class level increased.
