Comparison of the effects of spinal anesthesia position on postoperative early mobilization and postspinal headache in patients WHO underwent lower extremity surgery

Abstract (EN)
This study was performed prospectively by comparing the two groups on a total of 140 patients between the ages of 18-65 that ASA I-III status group undergoing low extremity surgery. Spinal anesthesia was performed in the sitting position 70 of patients, in the lateral decubitus position 70 of patients. Heart rate, mean arterial blood pressure (mmHg) and periferic oxygen saturation (%) were recorded before spinal anesthesia and after spinal anesthesia at five minute intervals. Also motor block (bromage III) onset time (seconds) were detected and compared in the both groups. In Addition; the muscle strenght (bromage 0) return time (minutes) after the operation and post-spinal headache which is one of the complications were compared between the groups. Mean arterial blood pressure values were significantly lower in the lateral decubitis position at 1., 5., 10., 15., 30.and 60. minutes after spinal anesthesia induction than sitting position. Saturation values were significantly lower in the sitting position at 1., 5. and 15. minutes after spinal anesthesia induction than lateral decubitis position. Motor block onset time and muscle strength return time was significantly longer in the sitting position than lateral decubitus position. There was no significant difference in terms of post-spinal headache. As a result; the sitting position could be suggested during induction of spinal anesthesiabecause blood pressures decreased less in the sitting position. However,the patient who expected early mobilization may be preferred lateral decubitis position due to shorter muscle strength return time.
