Abstract (EN)
Design has been present in every aspect of life since the early ages of humanity. People have left numerous evidence of tools they created by giving different forms to materials found in nature to facilitate their daily lives. Preserving the products and items they owned was also crucial. Research indicates that packaging and packaging design have existed since the early stages of human history. The increasing consumption in today's world, along with issues such as natural resource and energy usage, brings the concept of sustainability to the forefront in every aspect of our lives. Sustainability holds critical importance for packaging products as well, with packaging waste posing significant challenges. Designing and producing packaging to be sustainable is not sufficient on its own; the role of the consumer in this regard is also highly significant. In the scope of this research, packaging will be examined from both the designer's and the consumer's perspectives. The study will investigate how design decisions made by the designer during the design process are communicated to the consumer. The aim is to gather data on what can be done for a more sustainable packaging cycle from both the designer's and the consumer's points of view.
