Abstract (EN)
Purpose: To evaluate the anterior segment parameters and axiel length of the patients with amblyopia. Methods: Eighty children (40 normal and 40 ambliopic) and forty adults (20 normal and 20 ambliopic) enrolled to the study. Patients performed a complete ophthalmologic examination. Then, respectively, anterior segments were evaluated by using Pentacam-Scheimflug (Rotating Scheimpflug Camera; Oculus, Wetzlar, Germany), and then anterior-posterior length of eyes were measured by using A-scan ultrasound (Opticon 2000 Hiscan, İtaly) evaluated with the Pentacam and axiel length(AL) was measured with A scan ultrasonography. The unpaired t-test was used to compare anterior chamber depht (ACD), anterior chamber volume (ACV), central corneal thickness (CCT), corneal volume (CV). Mann-Whitney test used to compare axiel length in adult amblyopia patients. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in CCT and CV values in adult amblyopic patients according to normal adults, wheras ACD, ACV and AL values showed a statistically significant decrease. In children amblyopic patients, values of ACV, CCT, CV and AL were not statistically significant difference; but ACD showed statistically significant decrease. There was no significant difference in ACD, AL, ACV, CCT and CV between amblyopic and normal eyes of all amblyopic patients. Statistically significant decrease was found in only the value of AU between hyperopic and myopic amblyopic eyes in child amblyopic group. In adult amblyopic group, the statistically significant decrease was found only in the value of ACD between hyperopic and myopic amblyopic eyes. The reduction in AL was found only a statistically significant difference between normal children and normal adults. ACV value was found significantly lower in amblyopic adults than amblyopic children. AL value was significantly higher in adults. Conclusions: The values of ACD, ACV and AL showed significantly differences in amblyopic adult patients. The values of ACD and AL showed significantly differences in amblyopic children. There was no significant difference in respect of CV and CCT between amblyopic and normal people.
