Abstract (EN)

In this study; Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) isolated from stool samples of 45 healthy 0-4 month old babies who applied to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Practice and Research Hospital Pediatrics Polyclinic, did not take antibiotics or probiotic supplements in the last 3 months, and were not hospitalized for any health problems, were used. Six different species were obtained from 21 isolates selected by using Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) method. In our study, the most common species was Lactobacillus rhamnosus with a rate of 59%, followed by L. paracasei with a rate of 13,6%. Then, 9% of L. reuteri, L. gasseri, E. faecalis, P. acidilactici strains come with a rate of 4.5%. Antimicrobial activities of strains, especially vancomycin, tetracycline, gentamicin, netilmicin, tobramycin, penicillin, ampicillin, teicoplanin, amikacin antibiotics used in treatments were evaluated. While all strains were resistant to the antibiotic amikacin, the most susceptible antibiotics were tetracycline, penicillin, gentamicin, netilmicin, teicoplanin, vancomycin, ampicillin, tobramycin, respectively. In order to determine the antagonistic activities of LAB, 6 different pathogens (E. coli 25922, S. aureus 6538, Bacillus subtilis, S. aureus 25923, C. albicans, L. monocytogenes were used and the strains showed an inhibitory effect by giving zones in general. In the study evaluating the cholesterol assimilation abilities of the strains, T21 and T22 strains achieved the highest cholesterol assimilation rate of 39.1%. As a result, it is thought that most of the isolated strains have probiotic potential, especially T21 Lactobacillus gasseri and T22 Lactobacillus paracasei strains alone or together with other Lactobacillus strains can be used in the production of preparations.
