Abstract (EN)

In 19th century Western Europe the phenomena industrialization, modernization and urbanization emerged. They influenced each other and spread out over the whole world, affecting also the Turkish society. Affected by the development in Western countries, the process of modernization and urbanization of the Turkish society began in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire. It is an ongoing process, which continues till today with different economical, political and cultural dynamics. This process also had and still has an impact on urban development in Antalya. In this thesis we research how the centrum of Antalya is affected by this developments and has changed, by analyzing the daily life. We consider the daily life, urban experience and the relations between people who live in the city and their usage of urban places. At this point, stories on daily life, which are told by citizens, show us how urban experiences have been affected by the changes of the city centre.
