Vegetation types of Genya mountain in Artvin and silvicultural properties

Vegetation Types of Genya Mountain in Artvin and Silvicultural Properties This study was conducted in order to determine vegetation types and their silvicultural characteristics of Genya Mountain which is located in Central territorial division of Artvin Forest Enterprise. A total of 160 samples areas were examined and then 8 vegetation types and 5 sub-units belong to that two vegetation type according to Braun Blanque method was determined. In order to find out silvicultural characteristics of vegetation types, stand profiles and their crown projections were drawn for each vegetation types and sub-units. Relations among vegetation types and with other vegetation were found by determining number of trees, tree volume, stratum, total basal area, biological top height, diameters and ages. Moreover, to find out soil characteristics in these vegetation types and sub-units, a total of 33 soil profiles from each vegetation types and their sub-units were also dug. Results were discussed in order to determine the situation of stratum and mixture of forest tree species, canopy structures and stem quality, growth potential and natural regeneration ability, ecological and silvicultural properties of vegetation types. And some suggestions were made concerning silvicultural futures of vegetation types in the research area.Key Words: Mountain of Genya, Stand Profile, Vegetation type, Silviculture, Vegetation Table
