Abstract (EN)
This study aims to investigate the ways of assessment used by EFL teachers at private schools in Gaziantep and why they used these ways. This study was carried out with 42 EFL teachers working at private schools in Gaziantep, Turkey. Teachers' attitudes toward ways of assessment were studied. To collect data, a questionnaire consisting of multiple choice and open-ended questions was administered. Both qualitative and quantitative reasearch methods were used in the analysis of questionnaire. For quantitative data, SPSS was used. For qualitative data, content analysis method was used. According to the results of the study, it was found out that the ways of assessment used most by the teachers working at private schools in primary level to assess their students was portfolio, and it was found out that the most popular purpose of assessment was to monitor and motivate the students.
