Abstract (EN)

Epilithic diatom assemblages were used to evaluate water quality in the Felent Stream which is one of the essential tributaries of the Porsuk River. This branch was polluted especially by agricultural and urban wastes. In this study, some chemical characteristics and some aquatic organisms were investigated in the Felent Stream between June 2006 and May 2007. As a result, 117 diatom taxa belonging to 41 genera and some benthic macroinvertebrata samples were found in total collected from five stations along the stream. Also, the water quality of Felent Stream was determined by using OMNIDIA Software Program. Results show that IDAP, WAT, CEE and IPS indices have quite high correlation with the chemical variables.
