Abstract (EN)

Asil MESTA, Study of the Reflections of Beaumarchais's Life Experiences upon the Figaro Trilogy, Başkent University, Institute of Social Sciences, Performing Arts Department, Performance Master's Program with Thesis, 2024 Does the phrase "semi-autobiographical" properly fit to the plays of the Figaro trilogy? The main purpose of this dissertation is to examine the reflections of Beaumarchais' real-life experiences upon the Figaro plays. To achieve this, biographical works on Beaumarchais (those listed under the title "Kaynakça" which means "Bibliography") were scanned through and the plays in the Figaro trilogy (translations stated under the title "Kaynakça" which means "Bibliography") were read. To discover the real-life projections of Beaumarchais' fictional characters, a short biography of the famous playwright has been included in this dissertation as a chapter. To make the required comparisons, the plots of all three Figaro plays and detailed character analysis of their heroes have been included in the dissertation as separate chapters. And finally to achieve the main goal, a separate subchapter has been included for every single reflection discovered under the title "BEAUMARCHAIS'NİN YAŞAM DENEYİMLERİNİN FİGARO ÜÇLEMESİNDEKİ YANSIMALARI" which means "Reflections of Beaumarchais's Life Experiences upon the Figaro Trilogy" and which is also the main title of this dissertation. Keywords: Beaumarchais, Figaro, The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, The Guilty Mother
