Abstract (EN)

Yaşar Nabi Nayır (1908-1981), who played a leading role in the artistic and cultural life of the 1930s through his publication of Varlık, was a multidisciplinary writer who produced poetry, plays, stories, and novels. In addition to his literary output, Yaşar Nabi's articles published in numerous periodicals are also noteworthy. Varlık and Ulus stand out as two important publications where the author pursued his literary career. In academic studies Varlık has been examined across various disciplines, while Yaşar Nabi is primarily recognized for his publisher identity. In existing theses, it is observed that his roles as a publisher, poet, and writer are in the center. This thesis is motivated by the observation that Nayır's artistic, intellectual and critical aspects have not been sufficiently examined, as he gradually moved away from poetry, drama, stories and novels during the 1930s and primarily focused on literary criticism and expository essays. Moreover, the Ulus articles, which play a significant role in the mapping of the thoughts of Yaşar Nabi, have not been sufficiently examined, and bibliographies of these articles have not been compiled. This study examines Yaşar Nabi's articles published in Varlık and Ulus between 1933 and 1940, with a focus on the genres the author most frequently utilized. Various indexes classifying Yaşar Nabi's published works and articles according to chronological order and literary genres have been appended to the thesis. This thesis attempts to focus on the writer's identity as a critic, which has largely been neglected in academic studies. Keywords: Yaşar Nabi Nayır, 1930s Turkish Literature, Varlık Magazine, Ulus Newspaper, Criticism
