Abstract (EN)

In this study, biocarbons produced by different methods were added to the mortar mud at certain ratios and the changes in the insulation properties of concrete were observed as a result of curing. The biochar produced by the pyrolysis method was then activated in two different ways, physically and chemically. Pyrolysis experiments for biochar production were carried out at 550℃ in a static environment with a heating rate of 10℃/min. Physical and chemical activation was carried out at 700℃ in a N2 environment with a heating rate of 10℃/min and the process was completed by waiting at this temperature for 1 hour. Thermogravimetric analyses were carried out to determine the thermal stability of the three different biocarbons obtained. Then, biocarbon samples were characterized by XRD, BET surface area, SEM, Raman Spectroscopy analyses. In order to determine the insulation performance of biocarbon materials in the mortar, biocarbon was added to the cement mortar at certain ratios (0.5%; 1 and 2) and after a 28-day curing period, compression and flexural tests were applied. In order to determine the sound and thermal insulation properties, sound dispertion speed and thermal conductivity coefficient tests were performed and compared. As a result, it was determined that the insulation performance of the concrete could be improved by adding 1% of biocarbon material into the concrete.
