Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of pickle juice on the faecal microbiota of quails. At 35 days of age thirty male Japanese quails were used in this study. The average weight of quails was 160 ± 2 g. 2 different pickle juices used in the experiment T1 (Pickled Cucumber) T2 (Tomato pickle) was purchased from the local pickle store. The pickled water was taken into autoclave sterilized bottles and drank 100 ml / day in each group for 5 days. At the end of the fifth day, the faeces of the animals were collected in falkon tubes and taken to microbiology laboratory and analyzed. At the end of the study, it was determined that fecal lactic acid bacteria increased significantly with the drinking of pickle juice of quails and that yeast, enterobacter, E coli and coliform bacteria did not affect. As a result, it was determined that pickle water increased lactic acid bacteria population in feces and pickle water has potential to be used as probiotic. Further studies with different animal species and different stres factors are needed to exploited this potential
