Abstract (EN)
Tax systems. Among these reforms was the implementation of a singular tax system, aimed at achieving a fairer distribution of tax burdens based on individuals' wealth and income. Initially, taxes were scheduled to be paid biannually, later extended to ten installments. The collected taxes were meticulously recorded in ledgers and forwarded to Istanbul for further processing. This study delves into the Ruz-i Kasım tax register labeled BOA. ML. VRD. d. 773, seeking to garner economic insights relevant to the mid-19th century. By scrutinizing this document, the research aims to extract valuable data regarding tax payments made by individual taxpayers, as well as aggregated figures reflecting the tax contributions of various neighborhoods and villages.
