Abstract (EN)

Folk songs, which hold a special place in Turkish folk culture, are considered one of the strong forms of expression in folklore. Through their stories and lyrics, folk songs convey events witnessed by the people, and over time, they have been passed down from generations to generation, becoming one of the key elements of Turkish cultural heritage. Folk songs are a subject of interest not only for those working in the field of music but also for social scientists and other scholars. This study addresses the preservation and examination of Bolu's folk songs and their stories, as well as their transfer to future generations through literature, visual arts, and traditional arts, using an interdisciplinary approach to ensure the sustainability of our cultural heritage. The rich music archive of Bolu and its districts has been examined, and themes such as love of nature, friendship, heroism, and heartache—frequently addressed in folk songs—have been analyzed with students aged 10-15. The study aims to address the topic from an interdisciplinary perspective, and in this context, folk songs have been related to literature, visual arts, and traditional arts. The stories of 7 out of the 13 selected folk songs, as well as the lyrics of 6 songs, have analyzed for their meanings and the emotions that they aim to convey. These stories and emotions were interpreted by the students, who created drawings of the folk song stories on 25x30 cm sheets using pencil sketch technique. The students then boiled corn husks in fabric dye to color them in various shades. They also created figures by forming skeletons of babies using wire and corn husks. The figures, along with the pencil sketches, were photographed, and Bolu folk songs were introduced through postcard presentations. The students answered questions consisting of three items. At the end of the study, information forms related to the students' work were filled out. The results were interpreted in the analysis section.
