Abstract (EN)

Large parts of the boron mineral reserves in the world are in. Türkiye. It's well known that boron minerals are used in some industrial areas such that glass, ceramic, agriculture, metalurgy, nucleer and cleanning. Large quantity of industrial wastes are used during the boron enrichment process and production of boron deriaties. The use of these wastes as a raw materials in other sectors is important both economical and envirenment point of view. The use of wastes also result in the reduction of energy costs due to their refined properties. Recently experimental progress has been made on the utilization of chemical waste containing boron minerals, bottom ash and fly ash as cement admixture. Results of these experimental studies was reported that wastes containing boron minerals could be used up to 5% by weight of Portland cement. Bottom ash and fly ash can be used between 5-15% by weight of Portland cement. Expecially it was found that bottom ash and fly ash increase the bending and compressive strenght. In this study, borogypsum was supplied from Bandırma Boric Acid Factory, fly ash from Seyitömer Termic Central and molasses from Kütahya Sugar Factory. The aim of this study was to investigate utialization of these waste instead of natural gypsum in the production of portland cement and the effects of the incorporation of these waste on the physical and mechanical properties of cement. Apart from this, the effects of molasses which is by product of sugar industy on the concrete strenghts was investigated and the results were compared with the standarts.
