Abstract (EN)
Edge detection is one of the important image processing tasks. It takes part in higher level image processing tasks such as object recognition, target tracking and segmentation, and it facilitates these methods to perform in a better way. First order derivative, zero crossings of second order derivative, anisotropic diffusion and multi scale methods can be noted as widely used edge detection algorithms. Most of the methods aim to calculate gradient in a small observation window. In this thesis work, we developed a new method for calculating gradient by using fuzzy topology and degree of connectedness maps in larger observation windows. Keywords: Image Processing, Edge Detection, Fuzzy Topology, Degree of Connectedness Map, Topological gradient
