Abstract (EN)
Historical environments are places that reflect the cultural, social and economic status, lifestyle, relationship with nature and architectural and aesthetic understanding of the period of the societies that lived there in the past. Historical cities are rapidly affected by social, cultural, physical and functional changes, depending on the problems brought about by the age of modernization. Due to problems such as migration from rural to urban, rapid urbanization and uncontrolled population growth, destruction in historical cities increases and various problems occur in urban spaces such as obsolescence, obsolescence, lack of identity and loss of importance in memory. The province of Burdur, with its historical past dating back to 7000-7500 BC, its cultural richness, architectural works reflecting Turkish-Islamic culture and natural beauties, is an important city that should be preserved and transferred to future generations. Burdur historical city center has formed the core of the city and has been a symbol since the day it was first settled. However, the historical city center of Burdur, which lost its old charm by being affected by the negativities of the modernization movement in urban spaces, formed the research area of this study. The aim of the study is to reveal the rich cultural values and original architectural works of the city, to identify the current problems of traditional residences, commercial buildings and monuments, to evaluate the conservation works carried out in the area, to determine the results of the problems and to create suggestions for the problems. The method of the study was determined as scanning the literature, analyzing the data collected together with on-site investigations and compiling the results. In order to reveal the architectural values that need to be preserved in the historical city center and to determine the rich construction potential of the area, traditional residential buildings and commercial building groups were evaluated with schematic drawings and examined on a typological scale in line with on-site investigations. The current damage conditions of registered residential, commercial and monumental buildings in the area have been analyzed and presented in tables. Literature sources, documents obtained from the archives of institutions, photographs, maps, oral interviews and analyzes in the field have been references to the working process. As a result of the researches, it has been seen that the cultural values and original architectural works in the historical city center of Burdur are not adequately protected, the buildings are not given the necessary importance, and the destruction in urban spaces gradually leads to obsolescence and obsolescence. It has been understood that the registration process of historical buildings is late and the improvement works alone are not sufficient for protection. The protection of all tangible and intangible cultural values in the historical city center of Burdur will be ensured with a holistic approach, with the support of authorized institutions and the collaborative participation of the city user. The conservation and use of the area is important in terms of being sustainable and transferring it to future generations.
