Abstract (EN)
Alexander the Great's, born in Pella, the capital of Macedonia, in 356 BC., father was King II. Philippos and mother was Olympias. Alexander the Great had lessons about Greek culture from Aristotle in his childhood. When Alexander the Great turned 20, the reign period that would last for 13 years began within his father Philippos II being assassinated without carrying out the Persian expedition. Alexander the Great carried out an expedition to Asia that his father hadn't managed to do. He had been a great leader, taking over most of the known world stretching back to India. Alexander the Great wished to establish a world empire could ruled over by Greek language and culture in the places he conquered. However, he died of the malaria disease he caught by not recovering from it in 323 BC without being able to fulfil this dream. Although it is known that Diadokh Antigonos was born in Macedonia in 382 BC., there is not much information about his family. Diadokh Antigonos, one of the Philippos II generals, lost his one eye in an unknown war and received the nickname Monophtalmos (one-eyed) at the period of Philippos II. He served as the Phrygian satrap after the war of Granikos. He gained fame as an intelligent and expert of strategist. Alexander the Great established his own Hellenistic kingdom in Anatolia and wanted to reunite the empire that had been fragmented. So he began to struggle with other Diadokhs. But He died in the Battle of Ipsos in 301BC. Hellenism emerged as a new culture as a result of its fusion with other cultures in the Mediterranean and Central Asia reaching wide geographies with Alexander the Great. This transculturation was not only limited with the period of Alexander the Great's reign, but also was continued by his successors after his death, and his area of influence was quite a lot. Alexander the Great's successors did their best to increase the influence of Hellenistic culture in the regions they ruled after they had established their own kingdoms. Plenty of works appeared in the fields of art, history, architecture, geography and philosophy by means of the culture of Hellenism. The old cities were redesigned by preserving their architectural features, and the old architectural features were reflected in the newly established cities. The effectiveness of the culture of Hellenism, which was effective for a long time, gradually disappeared after the battle of Aktium.
