Abstract (EN)
Human has made use of symbols in almost every period of history. For things that they could not express directly or clearly, found a solution by symbolizing and using elements in the universe or nature, and over time these symbols have become cultured. The apple figure, which is among the oldest cult symbols, has also been used and used in oral, written and visual forms in all areas of life from myth Decrees to belief systems, culture to art. The phenomenon of art that has emerged over time has also often made use of these symbols. The apple figure also constitutes one of the most important elements of art practices with the meanings it symbolizes. Based on this context, the concept of a symbol, its function, the relationship of a symbol to culture, the concept of a cult symbol and how the apple figure, which is a cult symbol, is treated in mythological and religious stories were investigated in the first and second chapters of the thesis. In the third part of the thesis, the artists who have included the apple figure in their works from the past to the present in plastic arts and specifically in contemporary ceramic art and their works are examined.
