A study on Cahit Irgat's life and his works

Our study on Cahit Saffet Irgat and his works will consist of an introduction and 3 parts. In the first part, general information about Cahit Irgat's biography will be given. With this research on decency biography, it is aimed to shed light on a period of our literary history. In the history of Turkish literature, he is among the writers who wrote works in this period, starting from the 1940s Turkish literature of the Republican period, in which the social function of literature was perceived at an extremely advanced level and was seen as a means of recreating the society, until 1971. Witnessing the most depressed years of Turkey in terms of politics and economy, the author has gained a unique place in Turkish literature with his works and writings. In this context, in the second part, an examination will be made on his literary personality. In the third chapter, the works of the author will be discussed. We envisaged to identify the subjects and ideas in the works of Cahit Irgat, who produced works in accordance with the social-realistic understanding during these active and turbulent years of the Republican era, to determine and reveal his comments, criticisms and thoughts, and to contribute to literary historiography by following this path.
