To understand the psychology of individuals, it is essential to explore how their psychology interacts with their social surroundings. Many psychological problems are deeply rooted in societal and traditional norms that have been shaped by patriarchal society. These norms can be oppressive, leading to frustration and influencing the consciousness and unconsciousness of individuals, ultimately shaping their personality. Carl Gustav Jung, in his analytical theory, divides the psyche into three parts and emphasises the collective unconscious, as this is where personality develops and unwittingly adopts inherited behaviors from ancestors, resulting in the emergence of general archetypes that everyone has. This thesis aims to examine and analyse Jung's four main archetypes to focus on patriarchy as a social issue in different cultures through Caryl Churchill's Vinegar Tom (1976), Adalet Ağaoğlu's Evcilik Oyunu (1964), and Lot Vekemans' Poison (2007). The significance and purpose of the thesis lie in the combined study of literature and psychology, which reveals how patriarchy has a common devastating impact on characters from different cultures. Patriarchy is a persistent and pervasive issue that continues to impact our past and present, so it is crucial to shed light on this problem and raise awareness through social analysis and psychological insights to drive positive change over time. As a result, this study focuses on the collective archetypal behavior of characters in selected plays representative of different cultures in line with Jung's Collective Unconscious Theory to patriarchy in dramatic dialogues, employing a qualitative research and discourse analysis.
