Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Experimental and Theoric Investigation of The Behaviour of Composite Beams in Steel Structures It is well known that steel is an effective and is of serviceable material with regard to structural point view. Following the idea of encasing the steel members in concrete for the purpose of fire protection, it has been experienced that the strenght of such steel members is increased substantially. The purpose of reducing the cost and gaining high strength resulted in having steel and concrete functioning together as a monolithic member. This in turn brought about the basis of the applications of the composite structural members. This study composed of two parts such as theoretical and experimental. In the theoretical part of the study, the composite beams were described and their historical backround was underlined. Various cross-section types of composite beams which are used in steel structures were then depicted, and the advantages and disadvantages of using composite beams were discussed, respectively. Lastly, temporary shoring together with the behaviour of steel beams was briefly elaborated. In the experimental part of the study, in encased composite slabs, the effects of variation of encasement ratio of the steel beam in concrete slab on the behaviour of member and its bearing capacity were determined. To accomplish this, composite beams were prepared and their behaviour under flexural loading were investigated. In the third party of the study, some concluding remarks were pointed out based on the findings obtained associated with the behaviour of composite beams. Keywords: Composite Beam, Shear Connector, Flexural Behaviour, Concrete Slab, Encased Sections, Variation of the Ratio of the Encasement VI
