Abstract (EN)
Nowadays, the behavior, damage, and damage level of materials are generally determined using the finite element method. However, since the finite element method alone is not sufficient, experimental methods are employed to determine information such as the direction and severity of the damage. Additionally, fracture mechanics methods can face challenges in predicting the initiation, severity, speed, and branching of the damage. While classical continuum mechanics relies on local partial differential equations, peridynamic theory offers a formulation based on non-local and integral equations. Therefore, it has superior properties in predicting potential damage in materials compared to the classical finite element method. In this study, the capabilities of peridynamic theory were initially utilized to analyze two models with different material defects under tensile loads. In the next stage, after determining appropriate computational models, designed notched and unnotched models were analyzed under tensile loads, and the results were obtained. One selected notched model was also analyzed using the finite element method for comparison purposes. The analyses were conducted using Peridigm software, which employs the peridynamic method. The obtained results were subsequently compared, evaluated, and interpreted.
