Abstract (EN)

In recent years, boron has a growing importance. In our study, we investigated the cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of boric acid, sodium perborate and diammonium tetraborate on lung and breast cancer cell lines using in vitro methods. To determined cytotoxic effects of boron compounds, the MTT and Neutral Red Uptake assays was performed. Apoptosis depend on mitochondria was determinated by mitochondrial membrane permeability assay. Caspase pathway was analysed by measuring Caspase 3 and caspase 8 enzymes activations. Effect of the boron derivatives on DNA breakage was determinated by DNA fragmentation assay. Our experiment suggest that highest apoptotic effect on lung cancer caused by the boric acid and sodium perborate and boric acid induced apoptosis on breast cancer cells, effectvely. Keywords: Boron, Lung cancer, Breast cancer, Apoptosis.
