Abstract (EN)
The natural beauties of the world we live in may be threatened by various environmental problems due to many factors such as population growth and dynamism in industrial activities. Although it is a positive development in economic terms that a dense population brings with it intense consumption and diversity in activities, this density can lead to environmental pollution. It is thought that environmental pollution and environmental protection issues, which have been included in the investigation topics locally, nationally and globally, can serve the purpose of finding both the solution and the source of the problem more easily when they begin to be examined at the local level. Therefore, when environmental problems in Turkey as a whole are examined regionally and locally, easier results and solutions can be obtained for local governments that both contribute and bear the consequences. Among the environmental problems faced by our Balıkesir province, which are discussed in this thesis and are a part of the whole; Basic topics such as air pollution, water pollution, waste management and decrease in biodiversity were discussed, and the effects and effectiveness of the role of Environmental Cleaning Tax revenues, which is an important aspect of environmental protection in modern societies, in solving these problems were examined.
