The commentary of 200 couplets among the 167 and 220th Cevri's ghazals

In this thesis study named "The Commentary of 200 Couplets Among The 167 and 220th Cevri's Ghazals", two hundred couplets selected from Cevrî's Divan were annotated. With this study, it is aimed to understand the artistic value, literary personality and place of Cevrî, one of the poets of the seventeenth century, in literature. The prepared study consists of two parts and a conclusion part. In the first part, general information is given about Cevrî's life, literary personality and works by using the sources examined. The second part of the study consists of commentaries of two hundred couplets selected from Cevrî's Divan. While interpreting these couplets, the classical commentary method was applied. The couplets were first translated into prose in today's Turkish, and then the selected couplets were explained. Thus, an effort has been made to understand what the poet wanted to tell today. While the couplets are being explained, literary arts are also included. In the study, the book named "Cevri Life, Literary Personality, Works and The Critical Text of His Divan" prepared by Hüseyin Ayan was taken as the main source of the couplets. In this sense, we think that the study will pave the way for new commentary studies in the field. Keywords: Cevrî, divan, 17th century, commentary.
