Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted in the 2024 production season in the dry conditions of Ceylanpınar district, Şanlıurfa province, to determine the yield and performance of different sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) varieties. The research was designed with a randomized block design, including four replications, and a total of 20 different sunflower varieties were used as material. The experiment evaluated parameters such as plant height, head diameter, seed setting rate, number of heads per plot, seed yield, 1000-seed weight, oil and protein content, as well as phenological observations. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences between the varieties at the 1% significance level for all parameters. The tallest plant height was observed in the P64 LP 146 variety (80 cm), and the shortest in the SY KIARA variety (46 cm). The widest head diameter was recorded in the SUN 2259 CL variety (11 cm), and the narrowest in the SY KIARA variety (3 cm). The highest seed yield was found in SUN 2259 CL (28.96 g/plant and 84.67 kg/da), and the lowest in GRANİT (9.43 g/plant and 21.63 kg/da). The highest 1000-seed weight was observed in SUN 2259 CL (48.55 g), and the lowest in SY CHELSEA (32.75 g). The highest oil content was recorded in GRANİT (43.20%), and the lowest in TTAE 2022 84 (39.88%). The highest protein content was found in TTAE 2022 84 (22.50%), while the lowest was in P64 LE 145 (15.47%). The findings suggest that SUN 2259 CL and P64 LE 145 varieties showed high yield and adaptability, whereas the GRANİT variety, while having early development and high oil content (43.2%), had lower seed yield.
