Social cohesion of young people released from prison: Ahe case of Azerbaijan

This thesis study presents a research on the example of Azerbaijan, in order to examine the social adaptation processes of young people released from prison. The study analyzes the processes of bringing young people back into society after evacuation, the difficulties they encounter, and the social support mechanisms they need in this process. In the research, in-depth interviews and survey results with young people released from prison were evaluated by using qualitative and quantitative methods together. In this process, the integration problems experienced by young people, in the context of education, employment, family, and social environment, have been revealed; at the same time, obstacles, such as social perceptions and discrimination, have been discussed. The study emphasizes that social harmony after eviction depends not only on the efforts of the individual, but also that family, society, and state policies are decisive in this process. As a result of the research, it was determined that comprehensive rehabilitation programs, psychological support, vocational training, and projects aimed at increasing social awareness should be implemented for the reintegration of young people into society. This thesis study represents a comprehensive study, conducted in Azerbaijan, on the social cohesion processes of young people released from prison and provides guidance to policy makers, non-governmental organizations, and researchers in this field.
