Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, learning a foreign language has risen to the top of the priority list for young people worldwide. Without any doubt, learning any language is fundamentally dependent on the development of basic language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking), which are regarded as the key to learning the language as well as grammar. In this study, the reading comprehension and grammar levels of students studying at Algeria's Turcology Department were determined. In this context, a previously utilized and authorized accomplishment test was administered to 104 third-year and graduate students from the Department of Turcology. The descriptive survey model was used to define the data obtained in this study, which employed the qualitative research method. The primary goal of this study is to determine the reading comprehension and grammar levels of students studying at Algeria's Turcology Department and make recommendations to help them improve these skills. According to the analysis made, the results of the students' reading comprehension and grammar levels of the Turcology department in Algeria show that respectively: The subject in which the students are most successful is Vocabulary, then Sentence Knowledge, then Reading Comprehension Skill, then idioms, then conjunctions, and gerundial come last. It was concluded that there was a difference in Reading Comprehension and Grammar achievement levels of the students according to the variables in terms of gender and the number of languages they speak. 'It concluded that there was no difference in terms of age and grades. In this study, suggestions are offered to teachers and department officials in order to improve the level of reading comprehension and grammar skills of students studying at the department of Turcology in Algeria.
