Abstract (EN)

In this study, a new concept in wind turbines, the double opposing airflow method, was investigated, the working theory of the concept was explained and its performance was calculated with the help of computational fluid dynamics. In this study, a vertical axis drag type wind turbine was selected and a model was designed. The most important element in this concept is the direction of the air. A channel structure was used for direction in this study. The model was modeled in AutoDesk CFD 2024 program for the traditional method of single-direction airflow and the new concept of double opposing airflow at different wind speeds. For this study, analyzes were performed at wind speeds of 5, 7 and 9 m/s from the front section and 0, 3, 5, 7 and 9 m/s for the rear section inlet. Thanks to these simulations, performance results were obtained for the conventionally operating turbine and the turbine operating with the new concept. The results showed that the conventionally operating turbine can produce a minimum of 19.35 W and a maximum of 115.22 W power at different wind speeds. The new concept has demonstrated that it can produce a minimum power of 70.10 W and a maximum power of 1412.98 W.
