A study about empathetic tendency levels of the staff working at nursery schools and orphanage

In this study, the empathetic tendency levels of the staff working at nursery schools and orphanage have been examined.The sampling of the research consists of 243 staff members who work at 11 nursery schools and 8 orphanages situated in the provinces Diyarbakır, Adıyaman, Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa from Southeast Anatolia; Van, Elazığ, Bingöl and Malatya from Eastern Anatolia.The empathetic tendency levels of the staff working at the nursery schools and orphanages have been measured with "Empathetic Tendency Scale" developed by Dökmen (1988) and information about their different personal characteristics has been obtained by using "Personal Information Form".For binary groups, the obtained data have been analyzed with t-test which is used for independent groups and for the groups more than two, One Way Analysis of Variance method has been used. When the F value obtained as a result of analysis of variance is significant, the groups have been compared by using LSD test. The significance level of the research is regarded as 0,5.As a consequence of the data analysis, it has been found out that there is a significant difference in the empathetic tendency levels of the staff working at the nursery schools and orphanages regarding their sex, education level, self-perception style and the salary they get.Furthermore, it has been revealed that there is no any remarkable difference in the empathetic tendency levels of the mentioned staff members considering the institution they work at, age, marital status and whether they have children or not.
