Abstract (EN)

Turkey is a rapid developing country. At the same time, its population is growing swiftly. Demand for energy in Turkey is also increasing along with this development. For this reason, energy is crucial in this country. However, geodetic and fossil energy that Turkey owns, do not fully compensate its energy demand. Turkey procures its deficient energy need from abroad. Its cost approximates to 70 billion dollars in a year, and this amount is increasing in every passing year. Therefore, it has been an obligation for Turkey to close the gap of energy deficit by developing its regional water resources. In this thesis study, investigation and development of hydroelectric power potential in Porsuk basin has been intended. For this purpose, hydroelectric power potential of Porsuk basin has been investigated. Data required for evaluation and development of hydroelectric power potential in the basin, is observed using GIS (Geographic Information System) and Simahpp (Simulation Analysis for Hydropower Projects) sofwares. Planning of a dam at a proper location has been investigated, for evaluation of hydroelectric energy potential in Porsuk Creek. The probable cost and the amount of annual hydroelectric power potential of the planned dam were estimated. As the result, total installed capacity and hydroelectric energy amount that can be generated from the planned dam are calculated as 5.417 MW and 18.983 GWh/year respectively.
