Abstract (EN)

In this research, the flood wave that may occur in the event of the collapse of Akdeğirmen Dam on the Akarçay river has been investigated. With this study, the collapse scenarios of zoned fill dams were emphasized and it was aimed to have an idea about the damages that could be caused by examining the spread of the flood in case of such a scenario. Afyonkarahisar province, which is one of the important junction points with its location in the geography of Turkey, is located very close to the Akdeğirmen Dam. This supports the fact that conducting this study may be beneficial in order to be better prepared for possible threats. In our research, HEC-RAS, a computer software capable of flood modeling using hydrodynamic methods, was used and (2D) analysis was carried out by using precision digital elevation models. Thanks to this process, the determination of which of the residential areas located downstream of Akdeğirmen Dam will be flooded was made with the help of maps that reveal the water depth, water speed and water level values depending on time. The reliability of the obtained results has been increased by considering the roughness values separately for each type of location. As a result of this research; that such a disaster will cause serious damage in Afyonkarahisar province and its surroundings.
