Abstract (EN)
The aviation industry has been rapidly developing in recent years and therefore brings some problems with it. Today, with increasing aviation activities, it is essential to manage air traffic more effectively. Solutions are sought to reduce the increasing workload in air traffic and to use existing resources more efficiently. In this study, a mixed integer programming model, which aims to minimize the total fuel consumption spent in ground movements, is proposed to solve the runway assignment problem, which is one of the main problems of the air traffic management system. The average taxi time from each parking position to each runway was analyzed in detail by examining a wide range of fuel consumption according to aircraft types to be used in the realistic model. Since the importance given to multiple parallel runways is increasing day by day, the results of the presented model are examined by comparing the scenarios obtained with the data of Istanbul Airport, the busiest airport in our country and where multiple parallel runway operations are applied. According to the results obtained, it has been shown that the presented model provides an improvement between 6.6% and 14.4% in the total fuel consumption values spent on ground operations.
