Abstract (EN)
The substances that make up the earth's crust contain radioactive substances in different amounts. For this reason, we are all exposed to radiation to a greater or lesser extent depending on the region we live in. The aim of this study is to determine whether the water used in the central province of Çorum is suitable for use by analyzing the alpha and beta concentrations of the water. Within the scope of this study, the total alpha/beta amount of the water used in the province of Çorum was measured. According to the results obtained from the measurements, it was revealed that the alpha concentration of the water varied between 0.00049 and 0.00862 Bq/L, while the beta concentration varied between 0.00017 and 0.01565 Bq/L. A total of 20 water samples were taken in the study covering two separate periods. All water samples were pre-treated and made ready for counting. The results of the study indicated that, the alpha/beta value measuerements were in line with the limits of the World Health Organization and the Turkish Standards Institute.
