A tafsir of Fâtiha of unknown author belonging to the Republic of Türkiye period

Tafsir of the Qur'ânic verses started with the Prophet Muhammad himself and continued by the Sahâbe and the Tâbiîn after the Prophet Muhammad's death. Among the tafsir works continued by the commentators in the later periods, there are complete Qur'ânic commentaries as well as independent surah commentaries. In this context, it is understood that Surah Fâtiha, which is the "ümmü'l-Kitâb", has been given special attention in every period. The work that is the subject of our study is an incomplete tafsir of Surah Fâtiha, which was written in Arabic letters in the early period of the Republic of Türkiye, consisting of a preface, an abstract and seven chapters, in which the four verses after the besmela are discussed and the last chapter is incomplete. This work, whose author and name are unknown, is recorded in the National Library Manuscripts Collection under the number 06 Mil Yz B 1194 and the title Tefsîru Sûreti'l-Fâtiha. The work, which contains many quotations from many sources belonging to different branches of science and includes the tafsir of the verses of Surah Fâtiha, as well as other verse tafsir and different subjects; in this respect, it is a compilation. Our study consists of two parts. In the first part, the "general features of the Fâtiha Tafsir" are mentioned and the "method of the Fâtiha Tafsir" is examined, and in the second part, the text is transferred to Latin letters; the meanings of the verses in the text, the sources of the hadiths and the works quoted are recorded in the footnotes; In addition, the erroneous parts of the text are shown in the footnotes and the text is analysed.
