The effect of in ovo formula product injection in breeder eggs on incubation parameters, some organ characteristics and ileum histology

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of in ovo injection of formula product on incubation parameters, chick quality, same organ characteristics and ileum morphology. A total of 400 fertilized eggs from 42 weeks of aged Atak-S parents were assigned to 4 treatments of 100 eggs each (25 eggs/4 replicates/treatment). For experimental groups, formula product was diluted with sterile distilled water at different rates. The treatments were: Control (eggs without in ovo injection), F1 (%1.25 formula product solution), F2 (%2.5 formula product solution), F3 (%5 formula product solution). 0.5 ml solution of each treatment was injected to the air sac on the 18th day of incubation. At day of hatch, incubation and chick quality parameters were obtained by using all chicks, then six chicks per treatment (a total of 24) were randomly selected for organ characteristics and ileum morphology. The results show that F2 group, among all groups, has the best results in terms of hatching rate, embryonic mortality, and cull chick rate, but there is no statistical difference between control and F1 (P>0.05). F1 showed an increasing effect on chick quality, weight, and length parameters. Villus length, crypt depth and Lamina muscularis mucosal thickness significantly increased in F2 group comparing to the others. However, it has been found that %5 in ovo injection of formula product showed negative effects on hatching rate, embryonic mortality and cull chick rate, chick length, pasgar score and yolk-free chick weight. In summary, it was determined that %1.25 (F1) and %2.5 (F2) in ovo application of formula product has positive effects, but at a rate of %5 (F3) application showed negative effects on chicks at hatch.
