Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Some Pollutants Levels At Değirmendere Area And Their Effects to environment In this study the effect of discharge waters from some industrial establishments located on Değirmendere basin in Trabzon were investigated. Physico-chemical parameters (temperature, pH, suspended solid matter, SSM), chemical oxygen demand (COD), sulphate, chrome, oil and grease were assessed on samples which have taken from three different stations in the stream and discharge waters. In addition, poisonous dilution factor was also checked. Among the physico-chemical parameters; temperature, pH and SSM ranged between 2 and 15°C, 6.4 and 7.0, 4 and 404 mg/L, respectively during study period in stream water, while ranges of COD, sulphate, chrome, oil and grease were 24-127 mg/L, 20-71 mg/,L, 0.0022- 0.0196 mg/L and 4.4- 16.2mg/L. Values in discharge waters of establishments were as follows; temperature 11-89 °C, pH 6.4 - 9.4 SSM 181- 16200 mg/L, COD 60-818mg/L, sulphate 44-78mg/L, chrome 0.0172- 0.7222mg/L, oil and grease 4.0-16.3mg/l. Values measured in stream stations during the study period were found considerably higher than those measured in discharge stations. Parameters measured in stream water did not exhibit any temporal variations with exception of the temperature. As a conclusion discharges of the industrial establishments have direct or indirect influences on the water quality of the Değirmendere. Key Words : Değirmendere, Trabzon, Industrial discharges, Water pollution, SSM, COD, Oil and Grease, Chrome, Sulphate VI
