Abstract (EN)

In this study, Folk Beliefs of Buldan District of Denizli Province were researched and evaluated. Our study consists of compilations made in Buldan district center. In the study conducted in the district center, transition periods such as birth, marriage and death, which are considered important turning points of human life, as well as situations considered auspicious and unlucky, natural events, days, animals, evil eye, fertility, human body and human behavior, dreams, coffee fortune telling. Folk beliefs and practices used in daily life situations such as health, demons, angels, devils, objects and inanimate objects are included. When we look from past to present, it is evaluated whether these beliefs and practices continue to exist and to what extent they are affected by cultural change. The study consists of three parts. In the first section, information is given about the "Research Area and its Socio-Cultural Texture". In the second chapter, under the title "On Concepts", the concept of belief, the characteristics of folk beliefs, their origin, classification studies on beliefs and the factors that are effective in the emergence of beliefs are discussed. In the third and last chapter, evaluations were made on the status and current place of the folk beliefs and practices identified under the title "Folk Beliefs and Practices Related to Transitional Periods of Life in Buldan District".
