Determinants of Venture Capital Investment: Evidence from Western Europe

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to examine the determinants of venture capital investment for the case of nine Western European countries for the period between 2007 and 2017. The thesis investigates six main macroeconomic determinants of venture capital investments as well as the political risk as one of the most important determinants. Results of panel regression model under fixed effect indicate that GDP growth, interest rate, stock market capitalization, unemployment rate, financial development, and political stability have positive and statistically significant effect on venture capital investments in Western European countries.
