Abstract (EN)

Dielectric properties of materials under test are the basic requirements to execute modelling, simulation and implementation of microwave technologies (communication and remote sensing). So, it is necessary to know dielectric constants of leaves which is basic components of vegetation. Dielectric constants of vegetation are directly proportional to moisture content and they can be determined empirically. It is not possible to mention general theoretical formula getting dielectric properties which is applied to all kind of leaves. In this study, S11 and S21 values of monstera and magnolia leaves cutaway are measured at X-band during leaves are dried up in time. Using S parameters, propagation constants are calculated and then dielectric constants are calculated using these result of propagation constants. Changing of dielectric constant according to frequency is analyzed at 7 GHz – 9.2 GHz interval. Similarly, it is studied on the change of dielectric constants depending on moisture content of leaves. Finally, these two results are combined and empiric formulas of dielectric constants are obtained related to both frequencey and moisture content.
