Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the themes of anti-religion in the series Disenchantment. By analyzing the characters' attitudes toward God and sacred values, the research reveals how these elements reinforce anti-religion in a societal context. This research analyzes the anti-religious themes in the total of 50 episodes present in the five seasons of the series. The series touches upon topics such as the role of religion in modern society, the social perception of religion, and how religious elements are represented. In this context, the research examines scenes throughout the series where God rejects intervention against himself, negative perspectives towards sacred values, and the questioning of religion's position in society. The aim is to reveal the religious perceptions that the series may create and its potential effects on anti-religionism, and to develop an in-depth understanding of how religion operates in digital media products and how anti-religious views are shaped at the societal level. In the study, semiotic methods, document analysis, content analysis, and purposive sampling have been used. The importance of this research lies in examining how religion is represented in digital media products and the impact of anti religion on social perceptions. It is observed that religious themes in popular digital platform productions, such as the series Disenchantment, directly contribute to shaping the societal understanding of religion. The study highlights the transformative power of digital media on religious perceptions by revealing that modern media products are not only tools of entertainment but also cultural instruments through which anti-religion discourse can be reproduced. In this context, the religious themes and the religious opposition represented by the characters in the series offer an opportunity for an in-depth examination of cultural perceptions. The study contributes to our understanding of how popular series like Disenchantment shape attitudes toward religious values.
