Abstract (EN)
Digital games are not merely tools for entertainment; they are powerful instruments with the potential to foster empathy, raise social awareness, and support learning processes. This potential offers significant opportunities to integrate accessibility awareness and inclusive design approaches into education. This research explores the potential of digital games to make individual differences visible and to cultivate empathy-based awareness through experiential engagement. The study focuses on the multifaceted nature of disability, encompassing not only physical impairments but also sensory, cognitive, and temporary differences, where individuals encounter environmental, social, and design-based barriers. Disability is framed not as a set of personal limitations but as a multi-dimensional experience shaped by interactions with surrounding conditions and design choices. At the core of this study lies the question of how such experiences can be conveyed through digital games, and how these games might foster empathy-based awareness particularly among design students. In this sense, digital games are considered educational means, and the research investigates how accessibility and inclusive design principles can be integrated into game-based learning environments.
