Abstract (EN)

Down Syndrome is the most common genetic variation that causes mild or medium level mental retardation and developmental slowness which basically is the case of having three 21st chromosomes thus having 47 chromosomes total instead of 46 in which 23 comes from the mother and 23 from the father. When the literature review is done in the context of religious studies, very few studies have been found about Down Syndrome. The study rarity about the topic led the researcher to study on the opinions of the families with children with Down syndrome and Religious Teachers about disability. In the topic which has been searched in Kastamonu exemplary, the various hardships that families go through with their children has been presented as well as their opinions on the topics of social awareness about disability and cohabiting with it. As for Religious Teachers, they presented the positive and negative situations about the children with Down sydrome's readiness and attention towards lecture in the context of religious education. With this study, it's been come to conclusion that disability can be overcome by raising social awareness and we need to support the special individuals as all of us being a part of a big family
