Investigating the effect of the religiosity on marital satisfaction

Marital satisfaction can be defined as the mental perception of spouses about their own marriage and the feeling that they get from the marriage when evaluating the marriage in general. Altough there are many demographic factors like gender, age, marital age, duration of marriage, economic status, the number of children and education level, religiosity is also one of the variables that affects the marital satisfaction. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the religious motivation and the marital satisfaction level of individuals. For this purpose, it has been examined whether the levels of marital satisfaction of individuals differ according to the gender, duration of marriage, number of children, educational status and economic status, and whether there is a relationship between religiosity and marital satisfaction. The study consists of three sections; marriage and marital satisfaction, religion, religiosity and family, findings and interpretations. The population of our study consists of married people living in Kocasinan and Talas, Kayseri. The sample of the study consists of 137 females and 73 males, 210 people in total, from different groups of age, from various occupations with different economic and education level. Participants were selected by random sampling methods being one of the improbable sampling methods. The data collected in the scope of research is solved by Social Sciences Statistical Packet Program (SPSS) 21.0. Marital Life Scale and Deruni Religiosity Scale were used as Data Collection Means and it was examined by Little's MCAR test. According to the findings obtained in the study, there was no significant difference between gender, duration of marriage, number of children, educational status, economic status, and marital satisfaction.
