Abstract (EN)
Acting in the expected way in business life and not showing emotions that are actually felt leads to conflict between emotions and emotional dissonance in the individual. This discrepancy can lead to various negative consequences for the individual, like occupational burnout. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between emotional labor behavior sub-dimensions of dentists and occupational burnout. In this study conducted with 87 dentists working in private sector and public sector in Adana province, random sampling method was used; A 2-scale questionnaire consisting of 4 sections and 54 questions was applied. As a result of the analysis of the research, there is a statistically significant moderate positive relationship between emotional demands and emotion regulation, emotional dissonance and injury, organizational surveillance and monitoring; which are sub-dimensions of emotional labor and occupational burnout. A statistically significant moderate negative relationship was found between the organizational support and protective systems dimension and occupational burnout. There was no statistically significant relationship between the excessive workload and conflict dimension and occupational burnout in customer services. Another result of the research is that the emotional labor behavior and occupational burnout are differentiated by demographic variables; it was found that the emotional labor behavior of dentists showed a statistically significant difference between marital status and educational status demographic variables; gender, age, working time, type of institution, task and field of study did not show statistically significant difference according to the number of people they shared. When the burnout levels of the dentists are examined according to the demographic variables; the level of occupational burnout showed a statistically significant difference in gender, age and years of service; it was observed that there was no statistically significant difference between marital status, educational status, institution type, duty and field of study.
