Abstract (EN)
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease characterized by progressive cartilage destruction, osteophyte formation, subchondral sclerosis, synovial membrane and a series of biochemical and morphological changes in the joint capsule, especially in weight-bearing joints, due to the effects of genetic, mechanical and biochemical factors. The knee is the most frequently affected joint symptomatically in OA. The aim of knee OA treatment is to reduce pain, eliminate existing joint movement limitations and reduce secondary functional impairment. For this purpose, analgesics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), physical therapy and intra-articular injections are used, and various surgical interventions are applied in patients who do not benefit from these treatments. Many patients consult a doctor every year due to this disease, which causes joint pain, limitation of joint movements and ultimately loss of function. The one-minute sit-to-stand test (SST) is an easy-to-apply, safe and inexpensive scale used to measure lower extremity functionality. Ambulation problems are frequently encountered in knee osteoarthritis due to lower extremity involvement and secondary general body involvement. Patients with knee osteoarthritis have difficulty during high-intensity exercise and long-term functional tests due to severe pain. Therefore, short-term tests should be selected when measuring the functional levels of these patients. No study using BDOKT in knee osteoarthritis patients has been found in the current literature. Therefore, in this study, the validity and reliability level of the BDOKT scale, which will facilitate the measurement of the functionality of knee osteoarthritis patients, will be tested.
