Abstract (EN)

Did Vertical Migration of Mesozooplankton in East Black Sea In this study, diel vertical migration and abundances of mesozooplankton were investigated on 23 July 2003 and 26 February 2004 with 6 h periods. Mesozooplanktonic diversity was higher in July samplings than February samplings. I was observed that the diel vertical migrating organisms dominated by nauplii, copepod and noctiluca. Organisms had different abundance characteristics according to time and depth. Cladocera, polychaeta larvae could not find in February 2004. Significant differences were found between diel vertical migration sampling periods. Nauplii were found the most abundant zooplankton. Nauplii, copepod, noctiluca, sagitta, oikopleura, bivalvia larvae, cladocera, polychaeta larvae were estimated as 5708 ind/m"3, 3296 ind/m"3, 3338 ind/m"3, 540 ind/m'3, 861 ind/ m"3, 341 ind/m"3, 98 ind/m"3, 46 ind/m"3 respectively in July and 4491 ind/m"3, 3865 ind/ m"3, 675 ind/m"3, 8 ind/m"3, 46 ind/m"3, 115 ind/m"3 respectively in February. Chlophyll-a concentration higher in February 2004 (2,34 ug/L) than July 2003 (1,23 jxg/L) photic zone. Chlophyll-a and copepod biomass had good correlation. Keywords: Mesozooplankton,, Nauplii, Copepod, Noctiluca, Cladocera, Chlorophyll-a VI
